As a new patient, your first few visits are important because they establish a vital foundation for our relationship with you.

At Desai Medical Center, our goal is to provide the best care possible by properly analyzing all available health related information as listed for evidence-based care.

To ensure this quality care, all new patients are scheduled according to a 3-Phase New Patient Appointment Model.  For more information regarding this 3-phase model, please review our New Patient Policy .


Becoming a New Patient

To become a new patient, please email us at [email protected] to request our New Patient Paperwork.

Please keep in mind that our new patient intake process may take between 4-6 weeks.

Our office will contact you to schedule your first appointment o nce your paperwork has been processed and your insurance information has been verified.

Make sure you have reviewed our New Patient Policy to understand how your first few visits will be conducted.

What to bring to your first appointment

  • Your medication list, including dosage
  • Previous physician’s name and contact information
  • Insurance card(s), photo ID, and copay

We participate with most major insurances, including but not limited to:

  • Medicare
  • Maryland Medicaid/Medical Assistance
  • BCBS
  • Cigna
  • Aetna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Johns Hopkins EHP

We do not participate with:

  • MedStar
  • Kaiser Permanente
  • Jai Medical Systems
  • Johns Hopkins Advantage MD

Patients are responsible for knowing their insurance coverage status and benefits before obtaining services.

Please check with your insurance carrier to make sure Kartik J. Desai, MD is a participating provider with your plan.
